It was one of the first places in America to use all eletric-powered street lights. Aurora is also home to the characters in the movie Wayne’s World. Des Plaines – Des Plaines, Illinois is home to the original McDonald’s restaurant. It is a suburb of Chicago and is next to the O’Hare Inernational Airport. Des Plaines was also the setting for the popular 1980’s movie The Breakfast Club. Evanston – Evanston is home to Northwestern University and is a rather large city in Illinois. Evanston is home to many famous people including Eddie Vedder, John and Joan Cusak, and Charlton Heston, just to name a few. Evanston is also the home of the original tinkertoys. Highland Park – Highland Park has a large Jewish population. It is home to many famous landmarks such as the Willits House by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The city is currently home to famous people such as Billy Corgan and Michael Jordan. Lake Forest – Lake Forest was first deemed a town in 1857. It is the birthplace of actor Vince Vaughn and acress Lauren Holly. Lake Forest is located on the shore of Lake Michigan. It currently has a population of around 20,000 people. Metropolis – Metropolis, Illinois is the basis of the fictional hometown of Superman. There is a giant Superman statue standing in the middle of the town’s square.
