Phoenix – Phoenix is the capital city of Arizona. A desert town with beautiful housing and lots of golfing, Phoenix was voted second in the list of America’s most fun cities. With a population of 1.4 million, Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States.
Scottsdale – Scottsdale, Arizona was named after Army chaplain Major Winfield Scott. Rich in recreation and the arts, Scottsdale is a popular resort city. It is known for its luxurious housing communities as well as horse farms.
Glendale – Glendale is currently building a new football stadium for its Arizona Cardinals to be opened in 2006. Currently, there are just under a half million residents living in Glendale. The city is working on its Westgate development plan designed to spur growth for more businesses and residents.
Tucson – Tucson is a bustling city in Arizona with a large metropolitan area. The city’s name literally means “Black Foothills.” The city is the longest continually inhabited area in the entire United States, as Indians were known to live there as far back as 7000 BC.
Yuma – Yuma, Arizona is close to both the Californian and Mexican border. The city has several original Native American tribes still residing here. Every year over 85,000 people visit Yuma in the winter, making it one of America’s most popular spots for winter recreation.
Tombstone – Tombstone is famous for its well-known gunfight at the OK Corral. Back in the 1800’s, Tombstone was known as the deadliest city, giving it its infamous name. Today, there are about 1,500 people living in Tombstone.
Paradise Valley – Known for its resort areas, Paradise Valley is one of Arizona’s best-loved spots for vacationers. The average value of real estate in Paradise Valley is $1.2 million. Some famous people such as Stevie Nicks and Leslie Nielsen live in Paradise Valley.
Sedona – Sedona, Arizona is a beautiful city with an amazing environment of red sandstone rocks. The city is known for its mystical aura, and the city itself was formed in 1902. Sedona hosts its annual Jazz on the Rocks Festival, which is extremely famous.
Flagstaff – Flagstaff is located in northern Arizona. The city is host to an ancient volcano. Route 66 runs through Flagstaff, leading to Phoenix. The city’s name was actually mentioned in the famous song “Route 66”.
Prescott – Prescott was once a large mining town, and was founded in 1864. The city’s downtown Whiskey Row has the oldest restaurant in all of Arizona. In the early 1900’s, most of downtown Prescott was destroyed by fire, but has since been renewed and restored, making Prescott a popular place to visit.
