Norfolk – Norfolk is home to one of the largest Naval bases in the United States. It is home to Old Dominion University. Norfolk has many cultural activities including the Norva music venue, and the Chrysler Museum of Art.

Richmond – Richmond is the capital city of Virginia. It was once an important area for developments in the Civil War. The city contains the home of Edgar Allen Poe, which is now used a museum.
Portsmouth – Portsmouth is home to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, the country’s oldest and largest shipyard. Currently, talks are underway to merge Portsmouth with Norfolk in order to increase economic growth.
Arlington – Arlington is home to the Arlington National Cemetery, where JFK and many other famous people as well as war soldiers are buried. Arlington is located less than five minutes away from Washington, D.C.
Hampton – Hampton is home to Langley Air Force Base and Hampton University. It was once said that the pirate Blackbeard landed on the shores of Hampton before he was beheaded.
Newport News – Newport News is the birthplace of jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald and NFL player Michael Vick. The city name’s origin is not known to this day. Newport News has a population of around 180,100 people.
Charlottesville – Charlottesville was rated as one of the best cities to live in according to a book published in 2004. The city is home to the University of Virginia. The Dave Matthews Band was formed in Charlottesville.
Williamsburg – Williamsburg is home to the College of William and Mary. The city is rich in history and many of its original buildings still stand today, making it a very popular tourist destination.
Roanoke – Roanoke is a mountainous city in Virginia, and was founded in 1884. The city has a large illuminated star at one of its mountaintops that can be seen for miles. Roanoke’s newspaper has been in publication for 120 years.
