Detroit – Detroit is a legendary city in Michigan known for both its vehicle manufacturing and music scene, giving it the two nicknames of the Motor City and Motown. A large Iraqi population resides in Detroit. The city is large, with a host of music venues, restaurants, businesses, and hotels. Until 2002, it was home of the Pontiac Silverdome sports arena, where the NFL team the Detroit Lions were based. Lansing – Lansing is the capital of Michigan. It was moved there from Detroit in 1847. Oldsmobile was based in Lansing until 2004, when the last car was rolled off the assembly line. It is home to Lansing Community College. Troy – The city of Troy, Michigan recently celebrated its 50-year anniversary. The symbol of troy is a beaver. Troy is home to two of the most popular shopping malls in all of Michigan, and has a population of around 81,000. Warren – Warren is the hometown of famous rap artist Eminem. It is also home to General Motor’s technical center, and has a system of 24 different parks for recreation. Warren is six by six miles wide. Livonia – Livonia is known to many as being one of the “whitest” cities in America, meaning it has one of the largest Caucasian populations. Livonia is home to four Olympic athletes. The city holds its Music Under the Stars Festival each year throughout the summer. Dearborn – Dearborn is located just outside the Detroit metropolitan area. It is also the home of the Ford Model T, Ford Mustang, and Ford F-150 vehicles. Dearborn is home to the second largest number of Arab Americans in the US. Ann Arbor – Ann Arbor, Michigan is a large producer of furniture. The city is also the home of the University of Michigan. Currently, Domino’s Pizza is headquartered in the city of Ann Arbor.
