Atlanta – Atlanta is the largest city and the capital of Georgia. It was the host for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. Atlanta is home to the CNN network and the Coca Cola Museum. It a racially diverse city with a lot of entertainment and shopping, as well as sports stadiums and the home of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Athens – Athens, Georgia is home to the University of Georgia. Athens is dotted with sprawling farmlands. It is spacious and houses many beautiful homes and shopping centers. Duluth is also the home of the famous “runaway bride”, Jennifer Wilbanks. Cherokee Indians originally owned Duluth in the early 1800’s. Stone Mountain – Stone Mountain is named as such for the largest exposed granite dome in North America. The mountain itself has a giant sculpture carved into it featuring the leaders of the Confederacy. Additionally, Stone Mountain has wildlife and plant life that is not found anywhere else in the world and is a beautiful place to visit. Vidalia – Vidalia is best known for its agriculture business. Perhaps the most popular trademark of Vidalia is the Vidalia onion, a type of onion known for its sweet taste. In 1990, the Vidalia onion was named the official vegetable of the state of Georgia. Augusta – Augusta is the second largest metropolitan area in Georgia besides Atlanta. Woodrow Wilson used to live in Augusta as a boy, and the home still stands as a historic landmark. It is also host to the annual Masters Golf Tournament. Decatur – Decatur is home to Agnes Scott College. Public transportation runs through Decatur, and the state’s MARTA subway system has a station in the city. Decatur was named for famous Naval hero Stephen Decatur. Marietta – Marietta, Georgia is home to Dobbins Air Reserve Base and a Lockheed Martin manufacturing plant. The city has a large metal chicken at its center, which many residents still use to give people directions. Roswell – Roswell, Georgia is home to Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.
